However, some parents feel that video games can have a negative impact on their children, but others believe that they may have some positive effects. How do you feel about children playing video games? Give specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Video games are an attractive thing to many people, especially children. Those who love playing games will give lots of arguments to prove that playing game is beneficial. To me, I think playing games is beneficial, but more harmful.

On one hand, video games give such a wonderful way for people to entertain. When playing games, players or gamers are transported into virtual worlds which are often more exciting and engaging than real-life pastimes. The reason is that we will not have to think about the outside world anymore, we just have moments of relaxation and enjoyment. From an educational perspective, these games encourage imagination and creativity, as well as concentration, logical thinking and problem solving, all of which are useful skills outside the gaming context.

On the other hand, in my opinion, video games will make players deeped into virtual life and forget their reality. Moreover, looking at screen too much is strongly linked to poor sleep, no matter what kind of screen you’re looking at, and poor sleep is linked to a wide variety of things people don’t want, like reduced functional IQ, heart disease, weight gain, and depression. Students will be the clearest example for this situation. When they play games too much, this will lead to game addiction, they cannot control their behaviour anymore. Some of them are affected by the violent tendencies in the game and start to have a sedentary lifestyle which causes some negatively affecting on society. Not to mention, their studying is also greatly affected, this is reflected mostly by the declining academic results, etc.

In conclusion, video games have theirs pros and cons. However, everything needs moderation. We should not abuse video games too much, just play them for entertainment only.
