Day 54: Is learning to speak a foreign language as important these days as it was in the past?

Language is an essential part of our life. We use them every day and will feel empty if we do not use it. What I have mentioned is our mother toungue, how about foreign languages? To me, learning a foreign language is such a wonderful thing in our life. Below are my reason why learning a foreign language is important.

First, learning a foreign language opens up employment opportunities. Being fluent in two or more languages gives you an edge over monolingual candidates in job interviews. We can easily see these opportunities in all companies and departments which range from the marketing to tourism. Most companies, therefore, look for candidates who have foreign language skills.

Second, having the ability to use a foreign language not only brings you many opportunities but also better experiments when travelling. You cannot go around the world without at least a foreign language. This help you to understand much better the local dialects. You can find the places, ask for directions, and even order food. These things seem easier when you get such a powerful tools – language.

Third, learning a foreign language requires a long process of trying hard. It is such a tough road that involves a lot of mental exercises. From this, your cognitive and analytical abilities will be enhanced. On the individual level, it improves personality and increases your sense of self-worth. The need of language faculties has increased due to the growing interest in students to learn foreign languages. People associated with social services need to work with diverse groups from several countries. Ability to speak in a foreign language enables them to communicate and serve people better.

The thing is that there are hundred languages in this world, choosing one which is suitable to learn is not an easy challenge.
