My 2-Year Journey with Hanwha Life Vietnam

To be honest, getting into the life insurance field felt a bit unexpected for me. Back when I was studying at HCMC Banking University, I always told myself that I would never work for a bank or anything related to finance. That was just how I thought at the time. But after working here for 2 years, I guess my mindset has changed 😀

I joined Hanwha Life Vietnam in February 2024 as an Employer Brand Officer. For me, this was a really meaningful opportunity because it allowed me to work on a much bigger Employer Branding scope compared to my previous role. I got the chance to learn more, try new things, and grow through this journey.

In this role, I didn’t just support tasks – I fully owned and led my work across 5 main scopes, managing each from start to finish:

  • Social Media Content
  • HR Asia Awards
  • Early Talents & University Partnership
  • Employer Value Proposition (EVP) Project
  • Other projects that are related to communication

Social Media Content

I started my first fanpage on my own in 2018 and have managed many online platforms since then. However, this is the first time I’ve worked on something truly professional for a business – from planning content to turning all my ideas into clear, finished messages. This time, the fanpage wasn’t about me anymore; I had to think and act like an employer.

I felt really happy and proud to see the employer brand image improve through more consistent and engaging visuals and content. From February 2024 until now, I have been managing the Careers at Hanwha Life Vietnam fanpage and the Hanwha Life Vietnam LinkedIn page.

I handle everything on my own, working like a news hunter by actively collaborating with teams across the company to find stories and updates (Marketing, Sales, Agency Training Develivery, etc.). I make sure all content is aligned with business activities, with guidance and approval from my line manager.

HR Asia Awards

Many people say, “Oh, the company just bought the award.” But only after joining do you really understand how the award works and what it stands for. As someone working in Employer Branding, I feel proud when the company receives this award because we truly have what it takes to meet the criteria – not just the budget to join.

Joining Hanwha Life Vietnam gave me the chance to manage the awards from start to finish.

From running the online employee survey after nomination, to preparing the pitching deck and planning communications after the award, this journey is a mix of employer branding and employee engagement. I had to answer one key question: How do we make employees feel proud and want to share the news, knowing this is our shared achievement – not just the company’s?

Over 2 years and 2 awards, I learned how to turn ideas into real results. Beyond engagement activities, I also worked on PR articles and unlocked many new communication skills along the way.

Engagement Activities

Early Talents & University Partnership

I was really happy to be one of the founding members of the Early Talents Project. My line manager trusted me with full ownership of the program’s communication, especially for attraction and outreach. This challenge truly sparked my passion for communication.

I was responsible for answering one key question: How do we help students know about, and want to apply for our internship program? From there, I built the landing page, planned social media content, and worked directly with universities on communication.

Within just 6 weeks, we attracted more than 800 applicants from 90 universities across the region, and finally selected 8 early talents to join the program.

To improve communication, we worked closely with selected universities to organize office tours, each welcoming 30-40 students. These visits gave students the chance to learn more about the company and experience the working environment firsthand.

Beyond the Early Talent Program, and in line with the company’s strategy, we built closer relationships with selected universities by signing MOUs for long-term partnerships.

Employer Value Proposition (EVP) Project

This was the first time I had ever worked on an EVP project. When I received the task, I felt a bit worried because I had never done something like this before. Many questions came to my mind, but instead of overthinking, I decided to jump in, “just do it,” and step out of my comfort zone.

At Hanwha Life Vietnam, the EVP idea was not proposed by me – it was given by our Chief People Officer. My role was to build the story behind it, turn it into clear employer brand messages, and bring it to life through communication, including logo identity and promotional videos. It was a project that required a lot of time, effort, and back-and-forth discussions for alignment and approval.

But I did it. And I’m really proud of myself for that. I hope to have the chance to build and develop an EVP again in a new role when the right opportunity comes.

Other projects that are related to communication

Above are some highlights of my main work. At Hanwha Life Vietnam, I had many opportunities to apply my communication skills and experience to internal communication and employee experience projects, such as:

  • Owning the communication for the company outing trip, mainly through internal memos (a part of this work can be seen on this landing page)
  • Designing the UI for the HRIS mobile app, joining UAT testing, and handling communication for the project

Two years at Hanwha Life Vietnam have been a truly memorable journey for me. During this time, I learned a lot, faced my fears, and changed my fixed mindset about the life insurance industry.

I now believe that no matter where I work or what kind of business it is, there is always a story worth telling. As an Employer Branding professional, my role is to uncover that story, show its value to candidates, and attract the right talent to the company. Through that, we help build a workplace where people work together, grow together, and achieve meaningful results together.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and explore my work ^^.
