Day 42: You have had a class discussion on the importance of public libraries. Now your teacher has asked you to write a composition answering the following question: “In the age of computers and the internet, is there still a need for public libraries?” Write your composition.
Nowadays, with the advancement of technology people are getting away from reading books, especially in public libraries. However, in my opinion, public libraries are still very essential to our life.
First, public libraries play fundamental roles in society. They are educational institutions. Public libraries provide books and other materials for people to read and use. These materials are educational and lead to self-improvement and develop basic literacy skills. Public libraries have always seen as educational resources for all people, especially for those who cannot afford to buy books. Students like me are the clearest example in this situation. I always go to the library to borrow some specialized book which serves for my studying. This help me to have the opportunity to read some best books, because those are even expensive and I cannot even find them on the Internet.
Second, the other important thing that we just find in public library is the feeling. It has the peaceful atmosphere of studiousness that technology and the Internet cannot replace. When enjoying time in public library, we have a better concentration. As a result, it brings us a better effectiveness of studying. More than that, we can have a chance to discovery thousand wonderful books – the treasure of human knowledge that will change our life.
In conclusion, public libraries are vital to our life. People still need them in many ways. Therefore, we should encourage people to go to such places like that to explore useful things
